Mountains & wadis
The Hajar Mountains parallel the east coast of the United Arab Emirates and continue south-eastward into Oman, along the UAE border. Rising abruptly from the desert sands, the mountains are often misleadingly thought to be bereft of life. However, dissected by numerous wadis, this spectacular mountain scenery is actually home to a stunning diversity of plants and animals.
