Cloaca: A common cavity into which the reproductive, alimentary and urinary systems open.
Dewlap: A fold of loose skin hanging below the throat.
Femoral pores: Pores found on the inside of the thighs in certain lizards, which excrete and produce a waxy substance. As the lizard crawls along the ground, the femoral pores drag along the surface leaving a scent trail.
Incubation: The act of incubating eggs, that is, keeping them warm so that development is possible.
Territorial: An animal, a pair of animals or a colony that occupies and defends an area.
Tympanum: A thin membrane that transmits sounds from the air to the middle ear; also known as the eardrum.
