Glossary

Gestation: The state of being pregnant; the period from conception to birth.
Preorbital glands: An organ that produces a secretion, situated in front of the eye socket.
Subspecies: A population usually restricted to a geographical area that differs from other populations of the same species, but not to the extent of being classified as a separate species.
Territory: Area occupied and defended by an animal, a pair of animals or a colony.
Ungulate: A hoofed, grazing mammal.
