Subspecies: Connochaetes taurinus taurinus (Blue wildebeest), C. t. cooksoni (Cookson's wildebeest), C. t. mearnsi (Western white-bearded wildebeest), C. t. johnstoni (Nyassa wildebeest), C. t. albojubatus (Eastern white-bearded wildebeest) are all classified as Lower Risk / Conservation Dependent (LR/cd) on the IUCN Red List 2007 (1).
