Northeastern Africa and parts of Arabia (2), including Egypt, Ethiopia, Israel, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Yemen (1). Formerly also in Lebanon and the Syrian Arab Republic (1).

Habitat
A rocky-desert dwelling species found in rough, dry, mountainous terrain (2), at elevations up to 22,000 feet (3).In the summer, the Nubian ibex moves further up the mountain to avoid the heat, returning to lower elevations in the winter (3).
