Popular snake species

Named for the horn-like scales which project above its eyes, the Arabian horned viper is a desert dweller and travels efficiently across the sand using a specialised sidewinding movement.

This venomous species has hinged, hollow fangs and uses both pursuit and ambush hunting techniques to catch its prey. It will sometimes lay in wait buried under the sand, striking rapidly when a lizard, small bird or rodent strays within its range.
