Glossary

Carapace: The top shell of a turtle.
Endemic: A species or taxonomic group that is only found in one particular country or geographic area.
Plastron: In reptiles, the ventral shell of a turtle or tortoise.
Scute: One of the large keratinous scales on the carapace (the top shell of a turtle or tortoise).
