Status

Classified as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List 2007 (1) and listed on Appendix II of CITES (2). Two different populations are recognised by the IUCN Red List: Acipenser persicus (Black Sea stock) is classified as Endangered (EN) and Acipenser persicus (Caspian Sea stock) is classified as Vulnerable (VU) on the IUCN Red List 2007 (1).
