ARKive at this year's Festival of Nature in BristolARKive & You
With over 4.5 million web visits already this year from over 220 countries, the ARKive project is building a considerable worldwide following. We’d therefore like to dedicate this latest ARKive enews to you, the ARKive user. Keep on reading to see how you can participate in this global project – tell us what you think of the ARKive website, how you would like to see it develop, which new species you’d like to see on ARKive, contribute your images or just keep in touch with the latest ARKive additions.

Whatever the reason, we’re keen to hear from you.

ARKive's e-survey
A big thank you to the 15,000+ ARKive users who took part in our visitor satisfaction survey.

ARKive website survey resultsWe were delighted to find that 90% of respondents rated the ARKive website as excellent or very good, and that ARKive attracts visitors from a broad section of the worldwide community – from school children to leading scientists, from media professionals to on-the-ground conservationists.  A pleasant surprise was finding that many artists use ARKive as a source of inspiration for their creative works, such as sculpture and illustration. But ARKive isn't only used for work and learning - 55% of you visit the website in your own time, simply for personal pleasure.

Which species would you like to see on ARKive?
An ARKive Media Researcher at workWe know from our e-survey that many of you are keen to see ‘more species’ and ‘more media’ on the ARKive website. It’s a priority for us too, and with regular updates to the ARKive website, there’s always something new to see on ARKive. But which species would you like to see us profiling using the world’s best wildlife media? More Critically Endangered species, more mammals, fish or plants? Or what about more sharks, insects, marine molluscs or even lichens! Do you have some favourite species that aren’t yet on ARKive? Tell us what you’d like to see by following this link to leave your suggestions.

And of course we’ll update you on what makes it onto the site through the ‘What’s new’ section of the ARKive homepage, our Twitter account and future e-news bulletins.

Join ARKive’s Flickr group
In our last newsletter we invited you to contribute to our new ARKive Flickr group, which has proved to be a real success, with some really important high quality images coming through.  Below is just a small sample of the photos from the ARKive Flickr group that have been selected by the ARKive media research team to appear on the main ARKive site.

ARKive at this year's Festival of Nature in BristolARKive meets some of its users
The Festival of Nature - the UK’s largest gathering of nature lovers - took place this month alongside Bristol’s famed waterfront. With over 200 organisations represented, 1,000 different activities and events and some 28,000 people taking part it was the event in the UK nature calendar. And of course ARKive was there, as it was a great opportunity to meet and chat with our existing ARKive users and naturally make some new ARKive friends.
