Winning Image: Arabian oryx © Staffan Widstrand
Wildscreen is pleased to announce the winner of ARKive's UAE Wildlife Photography Competition. Launched in July, the competition forms part of Wildscreen's unique partnership with the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi, working towards raising awareness of the rich biodiversity found within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The judges, made up of the Wildscreen team that brings you ARKive and WildPhotos, were impressed by the quality of the entries received over the summer. However, after whittling the entries down to nine finalists, Staffan Widstrand's stunning image of the iconic Arabian oryx was chosen as the overall winner.
An award-winning, professional nature photographer, Staffan is well-known for his spectacular wildlife images, many of which he has generously contributed to the ARKive project. As the competition winner, Staffan will receive a copy of the book Planet Earth signed by Sir David Attenborough. The very best of the competition entries will appear alongside work from thousands of the world's finest filmmakers and photographers on ARKive.
While the competition may be closed, please keep sending us your wildlife images and videos, and help ARKive towards its goal of promoting environmental awareness and conservation throughout the world.
