About ARKive

ARKive's Most Wanted

ARKive’s core objective is to create a comprehensive audio-visual record of the world’s rare and threatened species.

The ARKive team have searched for images for all 19,000+ species that are listed as threatened on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, but many are still eluding us.

We know their names, we know where they live, but in many cases we don’t yet have a photo of them, let alone a film clip.

ARKive needs you!

It's an enormous challenge, and many species may never have been filmed or photographed, but we are still busy trying to track down the people that have access to the rare multimedia material that does exist, in order for us to put faces to all the names on our Most Wanted species list.

Most Wanted Species List

These harder-to-find species are listed alphabetically by scientific name. Although less familiar, and many only have a scientific name, they are equally in need of protection.

If you can help us to locate any images for any of the species in our Most Wanted list, please do get in touch. The list is extensive, so if you would prefer a tailored list of species to fit your area of expertise, please do contact the ARKive research team.
