Status – Melocactus

Melocactus violaceus is classified as Vulnerable (VU) on the IUCN Red List (1) and is listed on Appendix II of CITES (2).

Subspecies: Melocactus violaceus ssp. margaritaceus and Melocactus violaceus ssp. violaceus are classified as Vulnerable (VU) and Melocactus violaceus ssp. ritteri is classified as Critically Endangered (CR) on the IUCN Red List (1).
