This lichen is a 'fruticose' (2) or 'shrubby' species (4); it is composed of branching lobes that form small orange tufts, which are almost spherical in shape (3) and have spiny projections (5). The name of this genus, Teloschistes means 'split ends' and refers to the body of the thallus(5).
