  • Great grey owls feed mainly on small rodents, and are able to accurately locate prey under two feet of snow.
  • Great grey owls can be found in dense coniferous forests across much of the northern hemisphere.
  • Great grey owls have the largest facial disk of any bird of prey. 
  • When food is scarce the female great grey owl will starve in order to feed her chicks, and may lose up to a third of her body weight.
