Mediterranean Basin

The Mediterranean Basin is one of the most biologically rich regions on Earth. Located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, it includes a great variety of habitats, from pine forests and high mountain ranges to scrublands and dramatic coastlines. The region is home to a huge diversity of terrestrial species, from the iconic olive tree to the charismatic Iberian lynx, and the Mediterranean Sea supports a rich variety of marine life.
