Glossary
Cathemeral: active intermittently throughout the day and night, rather than exclusively during the day or night.
Diurnal: active during the day.
Endemic: a species or taxonomic group that is only found in one particular country or geographic area.
Gestation: the state of being pregnant; the period from conception to birth.
Montane forest: forest occurring in the montane zone, a zone of cool upland slopes below the tree line dominated by large evergreen trees.
Subspecies: a population usually restricted to a geographical area that differs from other populations of the same species, but not to the extent of being classified as a separate species.
Territorial: an animal, a pair of animals or a colony that occupies and defends an area.
Territory: an area occupied and defended by an animal, a pair of animals or a colony.
