Glossary
Invertebrates: animals with no backbone.
Lappet: wattle: a fleshy wrinkled and often brightly coloured fold of skin hanging from the neck or throat of certain birds (chickens and turkeys) or lizards.
Re-introductions: attempts to establish a native species back into an area where it previously occurred.
Territory: areas occupied and defended by an animal, a pair of animals or a colony.
Treeline: the upper limits of tree growth in mountains or at high latitudes.
