Classified as Least Concern (LC) on the IUCN Red List (1) and listed on Appendix II of CITES (2). Subspecies: Guianan brown capuchin, Cebus apella apella, is listed as Least Concern (LC) and the Margarita Island capuchin, C. a. margaritae, is listed as Critically Endangered (CR) on the IUCN Red List (1).
