Wildscreen Media Licences

Contributors of media to Wildscreen’s ARKive project are asked to select one of the licence agreements below, which differ in terms of how Wildscreen is permitted to use the copyright imagery.

1. Licence 1 - ARKive Vault and Website Licence

   The terms of this licence permit Wildscreen:

   • to copy and store high resolution versions of your image(s)/video(s) in the secure offline ARKive media vault, create derivatives or adaptations of the image(s)/video(s) and display low resolution versions of the derivatives or adaptations on the ARKive website;
   • to sub-license End Users to use low resolution web versions of your image(s)/video(s) for their own personal use or for internal educational uses only (subject to End Users agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of Use of Materials set out in Appendix 1 of Licence 1); and,
   • to allow End Users to use ARKive branded and supplied thumbnail-sized graphic links to your image(s)/video(s) on the ARKive website (subject to ARKive’s API terms of use).

2. Licence 2 - Wildscreen Activities Licence for Wildscreen Not-For-Profit Promotional Purposes

   The terms of this licence permit Wildscreen:

   • to do everything that it would be permitted to do under Licence 1; and
   • Wildscreen to use your image(s)/video(s) in Wildscreen owned promotional materials in order to promote its charitable objectives. This would include Wildscreen being permitted to reproduce, distribute and display the image(s)/video(s) or derivatives or adaptations of your materials in all formats.

3. Licence 3 - Wildscreen Activities Licence for Wildscreen Not-For-Profit Purposes on Third Party Platforms

   The terms of this licence permit Wildscreen:

   • to do everything that it would be permitted to do under Licence 2; and
   • to sub-license the use of your image(s)/video(s) in whole or in part to operators of third party platforms (such as Facebook and YouTube) solely for the promotion of Wildscreen’s charitable objectives.

4. Licence 4 - Wildscreen Not-For-Profit Conservation or Not-For-Profit Education Distribution Licence

   The terms of this licence permit Wildscreen:

   • to do everything that it would be permitted to do under Licence 3; and
   • to sub-license and distribute low resolution versions of your image(s)/ video(s) via the ARKive website to end users that are individuals, or that are in our opinion not-for-profit organisations, but only for not-for-profit conservation or not-for-profit educational purposes.
   • on request, to sub-license and distribute high resolution digital versions of your images(s)/video(s) (in whole or in part) to end users that are individuals, or that are in our opinion not-for-profit organisations, but only for not-for-profit conservation or not-for-profit educational purposes.

5. Creative Commons

   Imagery can also be licensed under a Creative Commons Licence.

6. Deed of Assignment

   It is also possible to assign the image(s)/video(s) to Wildscreen (and we will license use of the image(s)/video(s) back to you).
